The characters are utterly unreal, unbelievable. One small example Eleven year old grandchild of the vice-president has been thoroughly warned against breaking into his office to use his computer, but of course that's the very first thing she does when left with her grandparents, while her oh-so-important surgeon mother works overtime. Uh, why not give the 11-year-old her own laptop, if she's so desperate to use one? Most likely she uses one at her prestigious private school. Everybody is so very important, rich, influential. In this alternate universe, there's even a very highly-rated liberal female talk show host who is challenging Rush Limbaugh's program. Right. It reminds me of the old Dynasty soap opera.
I thru the thing away when I read the following " PJ was probably the first person fromIdaho to go to Stanford. He might be the first person in Idaho to go to college." What an idiotic thing to write. Plus, everyone in this book, sans the repubs, is a grad of a very pricey school. I,E., Stanford, Cal, Dartmouth and so on..
What the hell ever happened to the LeCarres, Deightons and Cruz Smiths of the world? I would give this book a negative number if I could.
Great book
I read many books and will often find mistakes such as syntax, misspellings,etc. but they are few and far between but this book is the worst abuser of these errors and the ones below. Although I enjoyed the plot, I stopped counting after 20 glaring errors that interrupted my read and caused me to ask myself, "was this book even edited?" The most jarring errors are the lack of contractions throughout the book such as when you're in the heat of the moment during a chase, you do not say, "I will take the Explorer. Move out!" It should read "I'll take the Explorer. Move out!" This is just one example.
All of these errors and scores of more, really killed the book for me.
There were so many characters in the beginning I wasn't sure how it would all come together. The courage of Ryan and his knowledge was refreshing for a young person. Good read.
A fun read. If you enjoyed the Hardy Boys you will enjoy this book. It's fun and totally unbelievable! If the "hero" was really this good he would be an agent with the FBI or CIA!!
I stumbled upon this great emerging author on , and I'm glad I did. Kennedy pulls together relatable characters, historically accurate tibdits, suspense elements, and faced-paced action to create a book that is hard to put down. A must read if you are an adventure novel reader. Very well done.
